"Carbon" for the Future

On June 21st, the US-China Energy Cooperation Program (ECP), the Green & Low-Carbon International Cooperation Committee of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME), and the Bureau Veritas Certification Team successfully co-organized an virtual training workshop topic on "Carbon" for the Future. The event was attended by over 70 participants from ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Emerson, Honeywell, Celanese, GM, Bunge, Green Points, Dow, Aramco Asia, DONGFANG Electric, China National Aviation Fuel Group and SINOPEC Engineering Group and etc.

This training workshop invited experts from Bureau Veritas' certification business team to share how companies can achieve the dual carbon goals from both a corporate perspective and a product perspective, in accordance with international standards. The training workshop also provided an in-depth interpretation of the "Greenhouse Gas Emissions Accounting Methodology and Reporting Guidelines for China's Petrochemical Enterprises (Trial)", sorted out the latest green low-carbon development concepts and shared some of the latest practical cases of enterprises practicing green and low-carbon standards, which provides reference and inspiration for enterprises, especially those in the energy and petrochemical industry, to achieve carbon neutrality goal. Representatives from Dongying Port Economic Development Zone in Shandong/Dongying and Gulei Port Economic Development Bureau in Fujian/Zhangzhou were invited to present the situation, the experience, and the needs when they try to achieve carbon neutrality.  Experts and the audiences discussed how companies combat climate change and thus truly achieve the goal of carbon neutrality.

The energy and petrochemical industry play a fundamental role to support the development of the national economy as well as one of the highest CO2 emissions industries. In the face of the increasingly need for achieving carbon neutrality, it is important for each enterprise to pay attention to and understand the global trend of low carbon development, and to seize the business opportunities under the dual carbon context.  ECP will continue to work with member companies and partners to design more and better training salon courses to do our part in the clean and low-carbon transition mission.
