Ecological Civilization International Forum

In a scorching hot summer day, there were around 1200 guests who came from their own unit from all around the world gathering Guiyang City, which has a beautiful name “the Capital for spending a holiday in summer” to attend Guiyang Ecological Civilization International Forum 2016 Annual Meeting. The guests covers more than 400 foreign guests from foreign government agencies, head of international organizations, internationally renowned scholars and head of think tank, chargers of international eco environmental protection enterprises, etc. Chief director of ECP Mr. Liu Xiaoyu was also invited as the representative of ECP to attend this forum.

The meeting lasted three days. Before the official forum, ECP and other agencies co-hosted the Level new development areas Green Development Road show in July 7^th, 2016 in Guiyang Empark Hotel.The host of the meeting was Mr. Lin Huadan, rotating chairman of state-level new district association for green development, vice governor of Binhai New District, other attendees were governors from other state-level new districts. In this section, we had opening remark, the decision to add more new district into state-level new district association for green development, representatives from new members made reports and panel discussion between representatives from new area. In this forum, ECP has played its own role of communication, which could make contributions to the develop of each state-level new district. Later in the day, chief director of ECP Mr. Liu Xiaoyu attended the dinner, which was invited by the leaders of state-level new districts.

In July 8th, the meeting began. Mr. Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the opening ceremony and made an opening remark. As a support agency, ECP participated in the sub forum of Ecological Civilization International Forum 2016 Annual Meeting, which is the theme of green city innovation and development forum. Leaderships from China's National New District Green Development Alliance and Guizhou provincial government, governors from other cities, university researchers and  executives directors from companies attended the meeting from China. Foreign guests who participated in the meeting contained foreign staffs from embassies and consular in the People’s Republic of China, governors from foreign cities and executives from foreign enterprises. Member enterprises from ECP such as United Technologies, Nucloud, Dow Chemical, Johnson Controls, IBM, Intel, Westinghouse, Huaneng Invesco were invited to attend this forum. To start with, Mr. Qin Rupei, member of the standing committee of Guizhou, Executive vice governor of Guizhou, girst secretary of Guian New area Party working committee, Mr. Cecille El Beledi, consul-general of British consulate general to Chongqing made opening remarks for the meeting. After that, several attendees made speeches on such as” Promoting Advanced, Green, Intensive Development  Speeding Up the Construction of The Fifth Generation Development of The New Concept of The First Demonstration Area” “New Center of Republic of Korea City With Happiness——Sejong”. In this section, we shared some of experience which from foreign cities’ mayors and the ambition from local governments in our country, at the same time, it contained suggestions from professors as well as researchers in China. After a short tea break, a high-level dialogue was arranged as the last section of the forum.

Overall, this forum enhanced the preparation level of local government to finish urban governance in our country, at the same time, it increased the possibility of cooperation between government and enterprises, then provide more possibilities for US-China government and enterprise to exchange their ideas. After that, through the opportunity, Chinas local governments have also got governance methods from other world advanced countries, not only from the United States, which gave our cities diverse opportunities to develop. We believe that, under the cooperation of many organizations which contain ECP, we could bring China’s cities a cleaner, more reasonable and environmentally friendly future!
