China-U.S. DOE Workshop

In order to summarize the practice of EPC in China and the United States, to share the rich experience gained from Chinese and American EPC institutions, to discuss the wider application of EPC in public institutions, the US Department of Energy, the US Department of State, the NDRC, supported by ECP, the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, China Building Science Research Institute, ESCO Committee of China Energy Conservation Association (EMCA) co-sponsored the "US-China public institutions EPC Workshop". The meeting was held on the morning of May 19, 2017, in Beijing. Vice President of Building Environment and Energy Conservation Research Institute of China Academy of Building Research Lubin made the opening remark.

Robert Sandoli, Director of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, US Department of Energy, delivered a presentation on the experience of US public institutions in engineering procurement construction. ECP chairman Harry Haury, EMCA International Minister Yu Wangxia, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory scientist Meredydd Evans also shared their experience.

The half-day workshop is mainly composed of three thematic dialogues: "Opportunities for Public Institutional EPC", "US-China Project Cooperation Opportunities" and "Financing of EPC Project for Public Institutions". In-depth and multi-angle discussion attracted participation from over 100 representatives of government departments, research institutions, enterprises and financial institutions.

The workshop is a kick-off for October 2017 US-China Energy Forum on EPC cooperation, further supporting the submission, application, and implementation of US-China EPC cooperation. ECP plays a leading role in enhancing US-China cooperation framework by mobilizing US industries, involved in and supporting various activities under the framework and providing pertinent and effective advice on the smooth conduct of the cooperation program.
